As a result of more than 500 entries submitted as part of the “Rename the PAT/C” contest launched this spring, a uniform name has been selected for the Faulkner’s Pre-admitting Testing and BWH’s Pre-admitting Testing Center. The “BW/F Center for Pre-Operative Evaluation” is the chosen name based on contest entries from Mari Bartholomew, RN, Staff Development, Faulkner Hospital; Miriam Joy Baron, MD, Infectious Disease, BWH; Sara Ann Javid, MD, Surgery, BWH; Esther Rhei, MD, Surgical Oncology, BWH; Mary Mahlmann, administrative assistant, General Surgery, BWH; and Maria Bentain-Melanson, RN, 8C, BWH. Congratulations to all winners.
This is the latest progress note in the Pre-Surgical Service Excellence project, which has been gaining steam over the last several months with improvements to the Pre-Surgical process at Brigham and Women’s/ Faulkner Hospitals.
“The Pre-Surgical Service Excellence team would like to thank the BW/F community for their continued interest in the project and for the more than 500 suggestions that were submitted as a result,” said the team’s project manager Tom Gakis of BWH’s Center for Clinical Excellence, who explained that one name for both centers will make it less confusing for patients, especially those who may have procedures at both campuses.
“I’ve never won anything. This is great,” said Javid after hearing the news that her entry was chosen. Mahlmann echoed Javid’s sentiments, “It’s very nice that they chose my suggestion. I’m honored.”
In addition to cashing in on their winning prizes, the contest winners and other BW/F staff and patients will soon see the winning name displayed on signage early in 2004.
